Open water rowing in the heart of Dallas

The White Rock Boathouse, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, with a mission of introducing recreational rowing to Dallas. “Headquarters” is the beautiful 1930’s era boathouse at T & P Hill at White Rock Lake in the heart of Dallas, Texas. The organization has restored the boathouse for rowing scull storage and launching. Our focus is on open water rowing as a recreational and endurance sport.

We offer memberships which provide access to the Boathouse’s shared boats. We also provide rowing lessons, enabling even beginners to enjoy the sport in only a few days of lessons and practice.

The Boathouse owns a number of shared boats, predominantly single, open water shells and skiffs. A few doubles are also available. These boats are available for use, by reservation, by any Boathouse member.

Competitive opportunities are available to members, including the annual Pumpkin Head O’ the Colorado, around Halloween, in Austin.

The Boathouse also promotes rowing as a sport in local high schools, including Bishop Lynch High School, which had a very successful inaugural year in 2005-6, and Woodrow Wilson High School, whose program will start in the 2006-7 school year.

Location

The Boathouse is located at 3240 W. Lawther, which is on the southwest side of White Rock Lake, in the area known as T & P Hill. Parking is available at and around the Boathouse.
